A Gallery of Turnings by Larry Charlot

Woodturning and Stone turning is both an art and a craft. I am fascinated by all aspects of sculpting away the raw material to create a work of art; and love exploring the use of many tools, materials and techniques. The turnings I create can be useful, creative, or even both. We are in a Mass production world but each creation I do is one of a kind.

What goes into each turning I get asked, well for a short list there is buying or gathering the material and initial cutting with either a chainsaw, bandsaw or both. Basic techniques to advanced, Use of different turning tools, sanding, buffing, and a multitude of different finishes depending on what you want the end result to look like.

I turn for the joy and peace I get from creating and working with the pieces, and the appreciation of the work in peoples faces.
